Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Our annual Celebration of Learning is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements and successes of all the students over the past year.
The Epping Music Festival held at Chatswood Concourse is always a highlight. Our Signing Choir and Dance Group perform to some of their favourite songs, and the Combined Schools Choir joins in as well.
Some of our senior students have been out on community access learning skills such as road safety, using public transport, and money skills.
The kitchen garden is thriving thanks to the hard work of our students (and staff!). The produce is used in cooking lessons to make delicious and healthy meals.
Room 6 invited our Deputy Principal, Murray, to join them on their excursion to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. Murray runs the swimming and water safety program at Karonga, and the excursion was a great way for him to see the students demonstrating the skills they have learned.
We celebrate Karonga's birthday each year with a fun Founders Day event. Activities include a fire truck, petting zoo, photo booth, music and art, and soft serve ice cream. It's always a lot of fun!
Some of our Aboriginal students joined other students from the Carlingford network at the Big Mob Day at Bobbin Head. They were welcomed with a smoking ceremony, learned how to make fire, and went on a bushwalk.
Our End of Term Assembly is extra special in Term 3 as we say goodbye to our year 12 students and wish them well for the future.
We always enjoy sharing a story for National Simultaneous Storytime.
Room 12 have been collecting all the scrap paper around the school and recycling it. Schools produce a lot of waste paper so it's great to see the students doing their bit for the environment.
We love having the staff from Gibberagong Environmental Education Centre come out to visit during NAIDOC week. All the students enjoy learning about Aboriginal Histories and Cultures.
"We love our school for its supportive community and commitment to every student’s success. Our child feels safe and inspired every day.” — a parent of Karonga School
