Additional learning support

At our school, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We support students with disability and additional learning and sensory needs so that they can take part in all areas of school and community life.

Support that fits your child's needs

Some students need extra support to feel confident and do their best at school. We work closely with families to make suport plans and adjustments that suits each child's needs.

Additional learning support can include:

• Teachers and support staff working together with famililes
• Specialist support for emerging language learning and those learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
• Maximise the potential of all students, particularly where there are emerging or splinter skills
• Provide small group tutoring to provide targeted literacy and numeracy support for students
• Reviews and updates of planned supports
• Accessable, engaging and tailored classrooms to meet student need
• Site-wide resources to replicate community spaces and provide opportunity to practice expectations.

Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed.  If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.

Learning and support team

Our learning and support team helps make sure every student gets the help they need at the right time. The team meets weekly to consider private therapy requests, and works with families, teachers and support staff to:

• Understand student need

• Consider incident reports

• Advise on adjustments, supports and the development of specific plans

• Monitor progress

• Connect with services as needed

• Reach out to families to share practice

• Advocate for Complex Case Management Meetings with paraprofessionals and families

• School executive
• School counselor
• Psychologist
• Physiotherapist
• Occupational therapist
• Speech pathologist
• School Learning Support Officers
• Itinerant teachers for vision or hearing
• Community and home school leiaison offiecer (HSLO)
• Representation from the network office.
